Settlement House Community Impact Project
Established in 1912, the Corona-Norco Settlement House is a non-profit charitable organization that provides for the temporary emergency needs of the low-income families and individuals who reside within the boundaries of the Corona-Norco School District. These services include a food pantry, thrift store, holiday food baskets, and holiday toy program. As a neighbor, it was identified that the Settlement House was in need of general landscape maintenance and outdoor clean-up and so a member of our Youth Board made it her mission to facilitate a clean-up day for them.
Despite the changing conditions surrounding COVID-19, the Settlement House Community Impact Project was able to take place in August 2020! For 7 hours, we rotated volunteers from the Corona Norco United Way Youth Board, Just Serve and Centennial High School football team to trim, cut, sweep, hedge and clean up the landscape with over 125 large trash bags of debris. It was a memorable event for all that not only showed our support for a fellow non-profit, but built comradery, laughter, pride and memories.
