Assemblyman Miller To Honor Sally Carlson As Woman Of The Year

CORONA-
Assemblyman Jeff Miller today announced his nomination of Sally Carlson
as "Woman of the Year" for the 71st Assembly District. Carlson will be
recognized for her outstanding community service during a formal
Assembly Floor ceremony in the State Capitol on Monday, March 8th.
"Sally
is a dedicated leader in her community who has selflessly given herself
to numerous non-profit organizations and causes over the years. Her
energy and enthusiasm are boundless, and have inspired others to give
of themselves and help the less fortunate," said Assemblyman Miller.
"It is a privilege and a true honor to be able to recognize Sally
Carlson as Woman of the Year for her dedication and service to the
residents of Riverside County."
Carlson is currently the Chairman
of the Board of Directors at the Corona-Norco Settlement House, a
charitable organization that provides temporary emergency services to
low-income families and individuals. In addition to overseeing the
daily operation of the Settlement House, Sally is Chairman of the
Christmas Food Basket program which resulted in the compilation and
distribution of over 900 food baskets.
A recipient of numerous
awards for her service to the community, Carlson has received the
Soroptimist International of Corona "Woman of Distinction" award for
Economic and Social Development in both 1988 and 2007, the Soroptimist
International of Corona "Women Helping Women" award in 1996, and the JC
Penny "Golden Rule" award in 2000. She has also been an instructional
aide in the Special Education Department of the Corona Norco Unified
School District for 15 years.
Sally Carlson lives in Norco
with her husband, Richard, of 46 years. Together, they attend Corona
United Methodist Church. They have three children, and five
grandchildren.
